2019-09-05

There is a six-character code for every course in an Ontario Secondary School, such as MPM2D, ENG2D..etc.

The first letter represents the course's department area:

  • A=Arts
  • B=Business
  • C=Canadian and World Studies
  • E=English
  • F=French
  • G=Guidance and Career Education
  • H=Humanities and Social Sciences
  • L=International Languages
  • M=Mathematics
  • P=Physical Education
  • S=Sciences
  • T=Technology

The first 3 letters indentify course subject. For example: ENG = English, MPM = Principles of Mathematics

The 4th character is a number:

  • 1 = Grade9
  • 2 = Grade10
  • 3 = Grade11
  • 4 = Grade12
