Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program OINP
Although Ontario is the province where most new immigrants choose to settle every year, Ontario still has its own provincial nomination immigration program.
OINP
The Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OINP) is a program that allows Ontario to nominate foreign workers, international students and others with the right skills, experience and education for permanent residence in Canada. The OINP works in partnership with the Government of Canada through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Nine streams
The OINP has nine streams that you may qualify for, depending on your job offer, education, work experience and language abilities.
- Having Job Offer in Ontario?
- Foreign Worker stream
- International Student stream
- In-Demand Skills stream
- Having education degree from an Ontario university?
- Masters Graduate stream
- PhD Graduate stream
- Having the skills and experience that Ontario businesses need?
- Human Capital Priorities stream
- Skilled Trades stream
- French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream
- A foreign entrepreneur and having great a business idea?
- Entrepreneur stream
Some of these streams operate through the OINP's Expression of Interest System, where you need to register an expression of interest and receive an invitation to apply. Other streams operate through the federal government's Express Entry System, where you need to have an Express Entry profile and receive a notification of interest from Ontario.
The OINP aims to respond to skill shortages in targeted areas, make it easier to invest in Ontario, and make sure newcomers can settle and integrate well in the province.
